Project Overview
GROUP constructed dozens of new foundations while performing civil work for Tri-Parish Contractors at a pipeline substation in Flowood, Mississippi. The project, spread across the entirety of the site, initially had two primary goals – to help the pipeline owner reverse the flow of natural gas and to replace the substation’s large gas cooler unit.
Other foundations were required for containment curbs, pipe supports, tanks, and fuel gas heaters. The largest foundation was needed for the project’s centerpiece, a 70- by 20-foot substation cooler supported on elevated piers and bellbottom drilled shafts. The GROUP team constructed the bellbottom shafts — whereby the drill bit widens the shaft at its base – to account for pool soil conditions in the area. They discovered that some of their existing pipe support foundations were failing and were then asked to demolish and repair those supports in a relatively short time frame.
GROUP completed the project on time and on budget in late December 2022, just three months after breaking ground.
